How To Join
If you meet the Honors Program criteria for admission and are ready to meet the challenge, then it’s time to enroll. You can do so in 3 easy steps.
Step 1
- Apply for Admission to Hinds Community College
Step 2
- Download & complete the Honors Application or pick up an application at one of our Honors Centers (see below).
- Prepare a personal résumé (template).
- Secure two letters of recommendation from former instructors using this form.
- Return all application materials (application, résumé, letters of recommendation) to the Honors Center.
- Pay the $15 Honors Program fee.
Completed Applications: All completed applications should be sent to the Honors Admissions Secretary on the campus where you will attend face-to-face classes.

- Rankin Campus: Student Services Building, across from the Bookstore
- Raymond Campus: 2nd floor, Administration Building
Step 3
- Enroll in Honors Program classes
Only Hinds staff can add an Honors class to your schedule. Please just call the Honors Center for assistance.

Honors Program members in good standing are eligible for an Honors scholarship. To be a member in good standing in the Honors Program, each semester you must:
- Enroll in at least 15 hours at Hinds Community College
- Enroll in at least one Honors class
- Enroll in the Honors Forum
- Complete 10 hours of community service, as required in Honors Forum
- Earn an A or B in all Honors classes
- Maintain an overall 3.25 GPA
