About Dr. Vacik

Dr. Stephen Vacik has served as president of Hinds Community College since 2020, bringing with him more than 25 years of community college experience in Kentucky, Alabama and Mississippi. Under Dr. Vacik’s innovative leadership, Hinds is experiencing significant growth as it continues to tailor educational offerings and career opportunities to the burgeoning workforce needs of the region. He has been instrumental in securing the support and funding necessary for multiple infrastructure projects designed to meet the demand for the health sciences and other areas of study. At the same time, Hinds is growing its capacity to further increase enrollment – building two new residence halls with funding made possible through local, state and federal sources.

Dr. Vacik likes to say Hinds is “in the life-changing business and we exist to serve our communities state and nation.” His vision has become our mission: to move people and communities forward and fuel the purpose, passion and professional growth of our students.
