General Tutoring/Academic Coaching
General tutoring is available for all students. This includes assistance for knowing how to submit assignments, using resources that instructors have provided in Canvas, or navigating ebooks. Academic coaching is also provided for a variety of topics including time management, study and note-taking skills, organization, combatting procrastination, and communication skills.
Course-Specific Tutoring
Course-specific tutoring is provided by faculty at SSC locations as well as virtually. The courses vary by semester.
In-Person & Virtual Sessions
Our current tutoring options are updated regularly. You can come in-person or just drop-in virtually.
Supplemental Instruction
Supplemental Instruction (SI) consists of weekly review sessions facilitated by Hinds Community College students who have recently taken the course and earned a high grade in it. These Supplemental Instruction Leaders are trained to use active learning strategies in a collaborative, small-group atmosphere. SI sessions are held twice a week and offered both face-to-face and virtually.
