Hinds Community College Foundation Student Emergency Relief Fund

About

We are not accepting new applications at this time

The Hinds Community College Foundation is currently processing Student Emergency Relief Fund applications already received.

The Hinds Community College Foundation has established a Student Emergency Relief Fund. The purpose of this fund is to support student success by removing financial obstacles resulting from an unforeseen financial emergency that without assistance would prevent a student from continuing their education at Hinds Community College.

These funds are to be used by currently enrolled students who are working toward a credit-based certificate or degree program who are in good academic standing at the time of their applying for emergency assistance. The student must be facing an unexpected emergency event that is effecting his/her ability to complete a program of study. The students must be able to document the temporary financial need and must demonstrate that they have exhausted all other funding sources.

Funding for this Student Emergency Relief Fund has been made available in part by the Woodward Hines Education Foundation (WHEF) through the Mississippi Community College Foundation. Other entities and individuals may make gifts to this Student Emergency Relief Fund through the Hinds Community College Foundation. (While funds from the WHEF must be spent by April 14, 2021, this Student Emergency Relief Fund will remain active as long as any funding is available.)

The Hinds Community College Foundation Student Emergency Relief Fund Committee to review applications will be chaired by the Executive Director of the Foundation and will have the following members: Foundation Specialist, Senior Advancement Specialist, Alumni Coordinator, and Advancement Specialist. Three of the above will constitute a quorum for the purpose of awarding funds.

Applications are reviewed by an established committee within the Hinds Community College Foundation on a first-come first-serve basis. Funds are limited and are not guaranteed.

Funding amounts are also determined by the committee. The Hinds Community College Foundation will disburse funds (when funds are available) to students who have applied, met all the requirements, and have documented need and proof that all other funding sources have been exhausted.
