ABE & High School Equivalency
Our goal in the Adult Education department is to increase the educational attainment level of working-age Mississippians without a high school diploma, while also increasing their employability skills by assisting them in transitioning into college-level programs. The key areas are Adult Basic Education (ABE) and High School Equivalency (HSE) testing.
A variety of free ABE courses, HSE testing dates, and locations are available. At Hinds CC, we hope you find the flexibility and support you need to continue your education, start a new job or build a better life!
FastTrack courses are offered as a quick method of GED test preparation. FastTrack is available to qualified students and is free of charge. Students interested in taking the GED are given the TABE (Tests of Adult Basic Education). The TABE measures basic skills that are important to passing the GED test. If the student scores at TABE level D or A, GED preparation is geared towards specific academic weaknesses only. This allows you to prepare for the GED in a shorter amount of time and complete your GED sooner!
