About the College

Our history began in September 1917 when Hinds County Agricultural High School opened in the small town of Raymond. These humble beginnings included an Administration Building, two dormitories, and a dairy barn, eight faculty and 117 students.

Faculty
About the College

Hinds Community College academic faculty are required to hold a master’s degree and to have 18 graduate hours in their teaching field or demonstrate a depth of knowledge.

Hinds Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award the Associate of Arts degree, the Associate of Applied Science degree and Technical and Career certificates.

Campus

Our Utica Campus has a rich heritage and has evolved into a progressive college location with all the perks of a complete campus environment. The Utica campus, formerly Utica Junior College, was founded in 1903 as Utica Normal and Industrial Institute and is the oldest of Hinds CC’s six locations.

Our Vicksburg-Warren campus, a commuter campus, offers a wide variety of programs to help you reach your educational and career goals. In addition, we work to meet the workforce needs of our local businesses and industries through specialized skill training.
