Steps for Housing Application

1. Admission Status:
   • You must be an admitted student at Hinds Community College before applying for student housing.
   • Not have any financial, disciplinary, or other holds on your account.
2. Hinds ID and Password:
   • Use the Hinds ID and password provided in your admission package from the Office of Admissions to log into your My.Hinds account.
3. Accessing the Housing Application Portal:
   • Steps to apply
     1. Log in to your My.Hinds account and navigate to the Housing Resources section and click ‘Apply for Housing’.
     2. Select the housing application for the term you are applying for and complete all required sections.
     3. First-time students are encouraged to apply early to secure Housing Priority status before the deadline.
     4. Non-Refundable processing fee:
        • $100.00 for the full academic year (Fall and Spring)
        • $50.00 for Spring or Summer term applcations
     5. Applications submited after the priority deadline will be placed on a waitlist and reviewed as space becomes available.

4. Room Selection and Waitlist Information
   • Room Selection Process:
     • Students who have completed a housing contract and registered for classes will be eligible to select their rooms online during their allotted time slot.
     • New students will select rooms in May; returning students will select rooms in March/April.
     • Students meeting all criteria should check their email for further details on room selection.
   • Roommate Selection:
     • Roommate assignments are based on priority applicants who participate in the online room selection process.
     • Students wishing to room together must apply before the priority deadline and complete a Roommate Request Form, which will be sent via student email.
     • Both students must list each other as preferred roommates and confirm their preferences in the housing portal.
   • Waitlist Process:
     • If residence halls reach capacity, students are placed on a waitlist based on their application completion date and enrollment status.
     • Students will receive email or phone notifications when a room becomes available.

Continuing Student Housing (RSVP)

Current residents who wish to return to campus housing for Fall 2027 must participate in the RSVP (Renewal Selection Verification Process). This process allows eligible students to keep their current room or select a new one, based on availability.

RSVP Eligibility Requirements:

• Enroll in at least 15 credit hours (including 6 in-person hours).
• Have a processed FAFSA on file by April 23, 2027.

RSVP Important Dates

• March 15–18, 2027: Keep Your Current Room
• March 22–25, 2027: Select a New Room

Summer Housing

Summer housing is available to students enrolled in summer courses, based on space availability.

•  Application Opens: February 22, 2027
• Priority Deadline: April 2, 2027
• Housing Rate: $350 per 4-week summer term
