Ben Bullock joined the Hinds Community College staff in 2015 as the High Brass Instructor, Jazz Band Director, and an Assistant. Band Director. He holds a Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance as well as a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. During his time at USM, Mr. Bullock was a National Trumpet Competition Semi-Finalist in the Graduate Solo Division and also received the Section Trumpet Award for the 2013 trumpet studio. He is also an alumni of the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps where he marched in the 2003 and 2006 Seasons. His teachers include Dr. Jason Bergman, Dr. Daniel Kelly, Dr. Reese Land, Scott Moore, and Sheree Lence.

Mr. Bullock has taught both High School and Middle School bands previously, most notably at Lewisburg High School who won 5A State Marching Band Championships during his time as an Assistant Director there. He also maintains a healthy High School private lesson studio in the area with numerous students making Mississippi Lions All-State Band as well as High School Solo Division Quarter-Finalists in the National Trumpet Competition.

At Hinds Community College, Mr. Bullock has earned the HCC Honors Institute Honored Faculty Member Award and continues to serve as an instructor, music writer, and director.

Mr. Bullock plays in the Mississippi Brass and Percussion Quintet as a part of the Mississippi Arts Council and enjoys being a freelance musician in the Jackson Area.
