Marvin Moak has been named administrative dean for Hinds Community College’s Vicksburg-Warren Campus as of July 1.

Moak was formerly industrial service coordinator for workforce development on the Raymond Campus. He replaces Hilton Dyar who retired in June.

“Mr. Moak brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise. I am excited to have him join my executive team and look forward to the positive leadership he will bring to the Hinds Vicksburg Campus and the Vicksburg community,” said Dr. Debra Mays-Jackson, vice president of the Utica and Vicksburg-Warren campuses.

Moak came to Hinds in 2000 as an electrical technology instructor and eventually moved to department chair/industrial service coordinator. In that role, he developed curriculum and courses for college-level students and administer courses for business and industry. He also worked with advisement, retention and job placement for students.

He has also served as an electrical instructor for the Mississippi Construction Education Foundation since 2008 and worked as a project engineer, electrical draftsman and estimator for Moses Electric Service before coming to Hinds.

Moak is a Hinds CC alum (1993-2009) where he received his associate degrees in general studies and electronics technology, as well as his degree in electrical technology. He has his bachelor’s degree in technical and occupational education from the University of Southern Mississippi and his master’s degree in technology education from Jackson State University.

In his new role, Moak will be working with the secondary center, academics and career-technical curriculums and the business and Vicksburg community.

“I hope to work with the Vicksburg school system and surrounding community to help promote the great things Hinds has to offer,” he said. “Most of all, I want to help train and educate the workforce.”

Moak resides in Raymond with his wife, Leslie Moak, also a Hinds employee and children.
