Rick Melancon, of Clinton, has been named a William Winter Scholar at the upcoming Natchez Literary and Cinema Celebration.

Melancon, an English Instructor on the Raymond Campus, has worked at Hinds since 2016 and holds master’s degrees in education, from Southeastern Louisiana University and creative writing, from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Each year, several outstanding Humanities Division faculty members, students and professionals from Mississippi colleges and universities are named William Winter Scholars at the event held since 1990. The honor allows them to attend most of the NLCC free of charge.

This year’s event will be Feb. 24-26 and is themed “Mississippi: A Tapestry of American Life.”
