Hinds Athletics will host its first-ever Alumni Weekend and Golf Outing aimed at bringing alumni back to Hinds and reconnecting them with current student-athletes, coaches and administration.
“We want to develop ways for our alumni to be able to come back to campus and take part in activities that will promote the betterment of our current and future student-athletes,” said Director of Athletics Nathan Werremeyer. “We are continuing to develop new ways to reconnect with alumni, and this will hopefully be an outstanding event that reconnects everyone.”
In addition to the Friday afternoon golf outing, Hinds Athletic Alumni will also have the opportunity to mingle at a social event with old teammates, honor previous coaches and student-athletes, and take in athletic events on campus.
The Athletic Alumni Weekend events will be April 8-9 and will include:
- Friday, April 8, 1 p.m. Alumni Golf Outing, Eagle Ridge Golf Course
- Friday, April 8, 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. Social, Lodge next to the Golf Course
- Saturday April 9, 10 a.m. Brunch, Eagle Ridge Conference Center
- Saturday April 9, 11 a.m. Athletic Facility Tours
- Saturday April 9, 12 p.m. Men’s and Women’s alumni soccer matches
- Saturday April 9, 2 p.m. Baseball game vs. Northwest Mississippi Community College, Joe G. Moss Field
The cost for the Friday evening social is $40 and the Saturday morning brunch is $20; tickets for both will be $50. The cost of both is included in the Alumni Golf Outing registration fee.
The Alumni Golf Outing will be a four-man, best ball scrabble, with a limit of 25 teams at $400 per team. The registration deadline is March 28. To register, complete the registration form on the athletics website. All money raised will go to the Hinds Foundation for Athletics.
Eagle Ridge Conference Center, next to the Golf Course, has just completely renovated all rooms, including brand new furnishings and amenities. Those rooms will be available for alumni to reserve at a discounted rate. Email EagleRidge@hindscc.edu to reserve your room and mention “Hinds Athletics Alumni Weekend.”
“We hope to see a great turnout of our former student-athletes who will be reminded of what Hinds has meant to their lives and their careers,” Werremeyer said. “We also want to showcase the upcoming capital athletic facility projects we have on the drawing board and bridge the gap between current Hinds student-athletes and our amazing alumni base. This is going to be an outstanding weekend of fun, kicked off with our first ever golf outing.”
