Electro-Mechanical Technology
Program of Study

Our Electro-Mechanical Technology curriculum includes a program of study for a career certificate, technical certificate, and an Associate of Applied Science Degree. When you graduate, you’ll be prepared to enter the job market in a variety of areas. In our program, you will receive basic instruction in a wide variety of areas including safety, machinery maintenance, troubleshooting/service, blueprint reading, basic machining, fundamentals of industrial electricity, CAD, fluid power, industrial controls, and PLC programming.

Electrical Technology
Program of Study

Electrical Technology prepares you for employment in the electrical field. Classes include instruction with laboratory exercises using industry-grade equipment. You will learn to install, maintain, and repair electrically energized systems found in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

Early Childhood Education Technology
Program of Study

Early Childhood Education Technology supports the development of teachers of young children ages birth through eight years. You will gain knowledge and skills that support children’s growth while working in partnership with parents. Our program offers educational opportunities for experienced educators as well as those beginning in the profession. In the end, you will earn an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Early Childhood Education Technology.

Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Program of Study

Sonography is an imaging modality that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images for diagnosis. Our Diagnostic Medical Sonography program will train you to use imaging equipment and sound waves to generate images of the human body. You will be trained to create and analyze these ultrasounds.

Dental Assisting Technology
Program of Study

When you successfully complete the Dental Assisting program at Hinds Community College, you will be eligible to sit for the national certification exam offered by the Dental Assisting National Board.

Area of Study

Criminal Justice is a generic term that refers to the laws, procedures, institutions, and policies at play before, during, and after a crime. As a student in the Criminal Justice Area of Study, you will explore various types of crime, their investigation, prosecution and defense, courtroom rules and procedures, and many other areas involving the justice system. The Criminal Justice Area of Study meets the necessary general education requirements and will expose you to specific criminal justice courses such as: Introduction to Criminal Justice, Police Administration and Organization, Juvenile Justice, and Introduction to Corrections.

Program of Study

Emphasis is placed on theory and practice involving hairstyling, tinting, bleaching, anatomy, physiology, hygiene, bacteriology, sterilization, sanitation, shampooing, permanents, personality, hair cutting, scalp treatments, beauty salon management, and wigology.

Computer Science
Area of Study

This area of study will introduce you to the general computer science curriculum, building the foundation for upper-level computing specialties, while completing the general education requirements for most baccalaureate degrees. You can also draw on other areas of interest such as biology, business, cyber security, economics, engineering, information assurance, languages and linguistics, mathematics, physics, or public policy to address a wider range of complex issues.
