Cosmetology Instruction Training
This area is designed to prepare students for employment as cosmetologists. Emphasis is placed on theory and practice involving hair styling, tinting, bleaching, anatomy, physiology, hygiene, bacteriology, sterilization, sanitation, shampooing, permanents, personality, haircutting, scalp treatments, beauty salon management and wigology. To be admitted to this program a person must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and have the following minimum scores on the ACCUPLACER test: Sentence Structure—60, Arithmetic—34, and Reading Comprehension—55. Upon completion of this course, a student is given a certificate which entitles him/her to take the State Cosmetology Examination for a license to become a licensed operator to operate his/her own shop or work with others. This program offers two options: a Technical Certificate and an Associate of Applied Science Degree.
