The Woodwind Studio at Hinds Community College offers students the unique opportunity to study with Woodwind Specialist, Randy K. Mapes. He is a master educator, performer and musician. His former students are now professional musicians, serve in US Military Bands, and teach at the middle school, high school and college level.
Courses offered include: Private one-on-one woodwind lessons for Music Majors and non-music majors, and class (group) woodwind lessons. Ensembles include: Saxophone Quartets, Flute Ensembles, Clarinet Choirs and large Woodwind Ensembles.
Students of Mr. Mapes’ studio are highly sought after and have received numerous scholarships and have successfully transferred to all area four year universities and colleges.

- All major scales
- Chromatic Scale
- Sight reading
Students who wish to audition for the Hinds Community College Band should visit the band website at www.hindscc.edu/band and fill out an online band application. Auditions for music major and band scholarships may be scheduled for the same day and time. Audition requirements are the same.
