Mr. Fletcher has been Director of Choral Activities at Hinds Community College since 1986. At Hinds he conducts the Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, and Clefs, a small vocal jazz ensemble. He also teaches applied voice and has taught music history. Before his appointment to the Hinds Community College position, Mr. Fletcher taught choral music at the high school level in Indiana and Illinois.

Mr. Fletcher holds degrees in music and music education from Millikin University and Northern Illinois University. He has done additional graduate study at the University of Southern Mississippi. He has worked under such distinguished choral clinicians as Paul Christiansen, Margaret Hillis, and Egil Hovland. Major professors include Richard Hoffland, Millikin University, Dr. Elwood Smith, Northern Illinois University, Dr. William Weinert, now of Eastman School of Music.

Mr. Fletcher has prepared Hinds choral ensembles for performances of major works with University and regional orchestras. These include Mozart’s Requiem, Verdi’s Requiem and Poulenc’s Gloria. His choral ensembles, in addition to many local performances, have performed in Mexico and Italy. His choirs have also been selected to perform at state level American Choral Directors Association conventions.

Mr. Fletcher has been in demand as an adjudicator of regional and state choral competitions and has been guest conductor for numerous regional choral festivals in Mississippi and Illinois.
