Hinds Community College Choir is a non-auditioned choir under the direction of Terry Fletcher, and its members are from the student body of the Raymond Campus. Approximately one half of the choir members are music majors and approximately one third are voice majors.
The choir performs annual Winter and Spring concerts on the Raymond campus in addition to numerous sacred concerts at churches in the Hinds district. The HCC Choir has performed at the American Choral Directors' Association Conventions at the state level. The HCC Choir has performed the Mozart Requiem in Mexico City, Mexico, the Verdi Requiem and Poulenc's Gloria with the University of Southern Mississippi Orchestra.
Members of the Hinds Choir have participated in National American Choral Directors Association Conventions in Phoenix, AZ and San Diego, CA.
This is a select performing ensemble of the vocal department with numerous appearances during the year, both on campus and throughout the Hinds District. An audition is necessary or consent of conductor. This choir performs literature from all periods of music including the Renaissance to the present. Prerequisite: Student must also be enrolled in Choir.
Clefs is an auditioned vocal jazz ensemble of 8 to 10 students chosen from the Hinds Choir, and is under the direction of Terry Fletcher. Auditions are held during the first week of school. Clefs repertoire consists of vocal jazz from the 1930's, to the 1990's.Clefs perform concerts throughout the Hinds district for various functions.
