How much does it cost to take the GED®?

$120 (effective January 2, 2014) for the entire test; $30 per subject area.

Am I eligible?

Eligible test takers: Are 18 years of age or older.

How do I apply to take the GED®?

The GED® test must be taken on computer at an Official GED® Testing Center. To schedule your test, first create an account on MyGED at www.GED.com. Once your account is created, Click “schedule” on your dashboard to get started.

How do I prepare for the test?

GED® test preparation is available for FREE through the Adult Education program. There is also study information available once your MyGED account is created.

What do I bring with me on the test date?

Current valid picture identification (driver's license or government ID).

How many times can I take the test?

After taking a test subject 3 times, you must wait 60 days before retesting. There's no limit to how many times you can test in a year.

What score must I make to pass the test?

Effective January 2016, a minimum score of 145 is required in each of the four subject areas to pass the test. The score is retroactive to January 1, 2014.

When will I find out if I passed the test?

You should receive test results within approximately twenty-four hours.

What if I miss my scheduled test date?

You must change or cancel your test at least 24 hours before your appointment time or you will forfeit your payment.

What are the advantages of taking the GED® or other Adult Basic Education classes?

Successful completion of the GED® test results in a certificate of high school equivalency being issued. ABE courses are an excellent opportunity to upgrade your skill level and prepare you for the workforce.

What kinds of Adult Basic Education classes are offered?

ABE offers GED® test preparation, as well as assistance with skills such as reading, writing and math.

Can I take classes and continue working?

ABE classes are offered at a variety of locations with an assortment of dates available. It should be easy to find a program that meets your needs!
