Electrical Technology
The Electrical Technology Programs on the Raymond and Vicksburg Campuses of Hinds Community College are instructional programs that prepares individuals for entry level employment in the field by providing classroom instruction and laboratory experiences using equipment comparable to that found in industry. They learn to install, maintain and repair electrically energized systems found in residential, commercial and industrial settings.
Areas of Specialty Training
Fundamentals of Electricity, A.C. Circuits, D.C. Circuits, Residential/Light Commercial Wiring, Branch Circuit and Service Entrance Calculations, Blueprint Reading/Planning the Residential Installation, Switching Circuits, Commercial and Industrial Wiring, Electrical Power, Estimating Cost of Residential Installations, Motor Control Systems, Special Project, Supervised Work Experience, Solid State Motor Controls, Programmable Logic Controls
Possible Degrees
A student can choose a Career or Technical Certificate or an Associate in Applied Science Degree from the Electrical Technology Department.

Students will find the Electrical Technology Program a reliable and thorough training ground for employment in the electrical industry. The program has an excellent reputation with local industries looking for skilled workers and placement of students who complete the program is a top priority. Typical jobs filled by students who have completed this program include wiring residential, industrial and/or commercial installations.
Additional Certifications
The Electrical Technology Program works with the Mississippi Construction Education Foundation to provide national construction education certification to its students for Core, Electrical Level 1 and Electrical Level 2.
