Be a standout.

Honors classes at Hinds are designed to stimulate your creativity and to challenge your intellect. They are not designed to be harder than other course offerings but they do help you develop skills that colleges and employers are seeking. You’ll hone your teamwork skills in a diverse group of scholars. Top faculty will help you improve your written and verbal communication skills and develop your problem solving skills. In short, you’ll develop important life skills that are simply not included on any multiple choice achievement test.
Build a network.
In the Honors Program, you’ll enjoy smaller classes with people you’ll get to know well. These are the people with whom you’ll share notes, study, grab a bite of lunch, or just goof off. In Honors you’ll forge lasting friendships.
Take advantage of scholarship opportunities.
You can earn scholarship money at Hinds simply by joining the Honors Program. Also, you’ll have the advantage of one-on-one advising to help you locate scholarships when you get ready to transfer to a four-year college or university.
Why Honors? Last year we stomped and clapped to off-Broadway touring companies of Stomp and Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles. On a trip to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, we toured the Walter Anderson Museum of Art and threw Frisbees on the beach. We taught a group of visiting British students about the all-American pleasures of hot dogs, Coke, and Mississippi Braves baseball. We snorkeled in the Pacific and Caribbean waters of Costa Rica. Who knows what fun this year holds? Why not join us and find out?
