Associated Student Government
"Never doubt that a small group of educated people can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has."
The Associated Student Government (ASG) serves the student body by presenting student input through elections, special activities, intramurals, clubs, organizations, local senates and ASG Committees.
For more information contact the Operating Dean at the respective location, the Director of Student Activities at 601.857.3388 or the District Dean of Students at 601.857.3232.
What does ASG do? ASG does a variety of things throughout the fall and spring semesters. It is offered at all six locations as a one hour credited course, and you do receive a grade. Student Senates on each campus meet once a week on designated day and time listed in class schedule book. Meetings of the ASG are led by the president, vice president, senators and the advisor(s). The meetings are conducted using parliamentary procedure such as that used in the actual government of the United States. This provides for quick action and involves all the senators in the decisions that are made. So, why should you join an ASG Senate? 1. Because many decisions we make affect our campus 2. It's a way to give your opinion of changes you would like to see occur on campus 3. You can help your community 4. You can have an outstanding educational experience 5.
