This year’s Employee Appreciation Gala is going to be different from the past. Therefore, we have been receiving many questions. Listed below are the most frequently asked questions with answers.
What is the Employee Appreciation Gala?
This is the end-of-the-year banquet for all full-time employees, which is sponsored by the Hinds Community College Development Foundation. At this event, all employees are honored for their service to the college. Specific awards are presented to years of service honorees, Life Star recipients and retirees.
Who is invited?
All full-time employees are invited to attend. Their meals are provided by the Development Foundation. They are welcome to bring guests. Guest tickets may be purchased in the Institutional Advancement Office for $18 per ticket. Part-time employees must purchase a ticket if they wish to attend. There is a difference between employee and guest tickets; therefore, they are non-transferrable.
When and where is it?
It will be held on Friday, May 2 on the Raymond Campus. The Years of Service reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Wellness Complex. The dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Mayo Gymnasium.
Who should attend the Years of Service reception?
Everyone is welcome to attend. We will specifically be honoring those employees who are receiving years of service pins for 10, 15, 20 and 25 years and above. Years of Service recipients in the categories from 10, 15 and 20 years will be presented their pins by their vice president. Dr. Muse will present pins to those with 25 years of service or above. This will all take place on the student center side of the Wellness Complex.
Where do I park?
The best place to park is in the Student Union Building parking lot. We would like for you to enter through the Wellness Complex doors. The parking lots at Denton Hall, Mayo Gym and Sheffield-Woolley residence hall will also be available.
What time will dinner be served?
You are welcome to enter the gymnasium at any time after 5:30 p.m. The serving line will open at 6:30 p.m. In past years, we have served all attendees in less than 20 minutes so we do not anticipate your having to stand in line long.
What is the appropriate dress?
This year we are doing an “Academy Awards” theme so you are welcome to wear a formal dress, cocktail dress or tuxedo if you have one. However, any attire is welcome.
How long will the program last?
While it is hard to judge exactly, we do not anticipate the actual program lasting more than one hour.
Where do I sit?
There are no reserved seats. We will have round tables that seat eight people. You are welcome to sit wherever you would like and visit with your friends.
Is there anything special happening this year?
In addition to a great meal and a wonderful night of fellowship as we honor our employees, the public relations office will provide a photo of you with your guest as a keepsake of the evening. As you enter the Wellness Complex, they will be set up to take your photo and then will have it available for you before the evening is over. .
What if I have not gotten a ticket?
Call the Institutional Advancement Office at 601.857.3363. The deadline for getting your ticket is Monday, April 28.
