10/21/09

About 1,000 11th-graders from Rankin County and Pearl school districts got a chance to glimpse the future in the annual iTechnology Show Oct. 21 on the Rankin Campus of Hinds Community College.

Current Hinds students and instructors as well as local business and industry that use technology showcased potential training paths and careers that students can pursue after they graduate from high school. Students had a chance to visit one of 45 exhibits as part of the show.

“The purpose of the iTechnology show is to get information to high school students about training and education behind high school,” said David Campbell, career/technical dean on the Rankin Campus. “We’re trying to inform them as to what careers they can go into after high school with one or two years of training.”

Among programs featured was the new Air Traffic Control program at the Rankin Campus. Sitting at the controls of a simulator is Johnna White, 16, of Pisgah High School.
