Members of Alpha Beta Gamma, the business honor society on the Raymond Campus, recently presented toys and a check to the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children as their social service project for the 2009 fall semester.

Members of ABG sold candy to raise money for insulated chemotherapy bags for patients. Since many patients drive several hours to receive treatment the insulated bags will ensure the safety of their medication. 

In addition to the $2,000 donated for the insulated bags, students raised $500 to help fulfill the children’s Christmas wish list.  A check and toys were presented to Dr. Betsy Herrington, pediatric oncologist, on Dec. 7. Dr. Herrington attended Hinds before completing medical school. 

Also assisting with fundraising efforts were business faculty members Bill Ashley, Karen Robbins and Katrina Handy. Special thanks go to the top fundraisers, including Velma Walton-Shakespeare, John Slaughter, Estavia Wilson, Hannah Haralson, Bonita Roby, Luckett and Marshall.
