The Disability Support Services program on the Hinds Community College Raymond Campus will observe the 10th Annual Disability Awareness Month during October.

On Oct. 7, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Raymond Campus Cafeteria Building, Disability Support Services and Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing will host a deaf awareness exhibit. Among features will be current relay service information from Sprint, the nation’s largest provider of telecommunications relay service for the deaf and hard of hearing. The Office on Deaf and Hard of Hearing, a Division of the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services, will also disseminate information related to deafness.

The college’s sign language interpreters will conduct two 15-minute basic American Sign Language sessions at 11:30 a.m. and at 12:30 p.m. The college Interpreter Training Program will also participate.

The public is invited to this free and informative activity.
