Air Traffic Control program offered at Hinds Community College
07/28/2009

Hinds Community College is adding Air Traffic Control Technology to its Aviation Department beginning in the fall 2009 semester. The Air Traffic Control (ATC) Technology curriculum will be offered at the Rankin Campus as an Associates of Applied Science (AAS) degree.

Students graduating the ATC Technology program will be prepared to enter training as an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration or with other air traffic control organizations. Students interested in both flight training program and the ATC Technology program may enroll in both programs concurrently.

The Aviation Department at Hinds Community College has been very successful with its three current programs-flight training, avionics and A&P maintenance technology. Our vision for the ATC Technology program is to expand our mission in the aviation community and to prepare the next generation of aviators.

Registration at Hinds Community College continues through Aug.13. Students and families are invited to meet with the chairman and instructor for a question and answer session regarding the air traffic control program and other aviation programs on Aug. 12, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This session will be held at the Rankin Campus, Administration Building, Room 250.
