06/27/08 Free educators workshop set at Eagle Ridge Conference Center
Hinds Community College will host a workshop for educators on Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL), Wednesday, July 16, from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Hinds Eagle Ridge Conference Center in Raymond.

06/19/08 Hinds CC, Higher One partner for new student debit card
Hinds Community College and Higher One, a financial services and payment company focused exclusively on higher education, are teaming up to offer students an easy, fast avenue to receive financial aid refunds from the college.

05/24/08 Hinds Raymond Campus ASG president wins two awards
Coby Gaines, a former resident of Concho, Ariz., who now lives in Clinton, received two awards during the final meeting of the Raymond Campus Associated Student Government at Hinds Community College.

After April 17 tryouts, the Hinds Community College Eagle cheerleaders for 2008-09 will include returning sophomores April Hall of Florence, Liz Raby of Itta Bena, Victoria Scales of Pelahatchie, Jerrica Stewart of Brandon and Nicole Steele of Clinton.

04/15/08 Hinds Diamond Darlings participate in fundraiser
The Hinds Community College Diamond Darlings participated in the Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday, April 5 at Trustmark Park in Pearl.

04/15/08 Hinds CC to open advance registration for summer, fall
Current Hinds Community College students can advance register for the summer mini-term, summer sessions and the fall term beginning April 14.

04/14/08 Hinds CC hosts Preview Night for potential students
Prospective students can get the flavor of the Hinds Community College experience during a special Preview Night 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, on the Raymond Campus football practice field.

04/04/08 Hinds Landscape Management Department sets annual spring plant sale
Hinds Community College’s Landscape Management Department will have the annual spring plant sale Friday and Saturday, April 11-12 at Hinds Boulevard and Main Street in Raymond on the college campus.

04/03/08 – Hinds CC hosts Hinds Night at the Braves
Mississippi Braves fans will have a special treat at the first Friday night home game at Trustmark Park in Pearl when Hinds Community College teams up to offer a special night of fun activities on April 11.

04/01/08 Five Hinds students receive arts scholarships
Five Hinds Community College students Monday were honored as recipients of $500 Mississippi and the Arts Week scholarships for fall 2008.

03/31/08 Fountain memorial Monday at Eagle Ridge
A memorial service for D.G. “Sonny” Fountain, president of the Hinds Community College Board of Trustees, will be at 3:30 p.m. today (Monday) at Eagle Ridge Conference Center. Visitation is 1 p.m. today, also at Eagle Ridge.

03/14/08 Hinds Idol named in spirited, fun-filled competition
Monique Taylor of Morton, a nursing student on the Raymond Campus, won the first-ever Hinds Idol contest Thursday, March 13.

03/06/08 Mississippi and the Arts Week set
Hinds Community College’s Mississippi and the Arts Week takes a look at the works of Mississippi-born authors Eudora Welty (1909-2001) and Richard Wright (1908-1960) on its opening day, Monday, March 31.

03/03/08 Tuesday deadline for Hinds Development Foundation scholarship
Without a Hinds Community College Development Foundation scholarship, Angela Cossey, 18, of Brandon says she wouldn’t be a college student today.

The Hinds Community College All-Mississippi Academic Team was recognized as part of the Feb. 22 Deans’ and President’s Scholars Awards Day.

02/26/08 Hinds, Valley Services raise awareness about zero trans fat cooking oil
Hinds Community College students on the Raymond Campus will learn about the healthier meals available to them in the college cafeteria as part of a special promotion beginning 11 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 28.) outside the north side of the cafeteria.

Five Hinds Community College students compete for the title of Miss Hinds Community College 2008 at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 30) at Hogg Auditorium in Cain-Cochran Hall.

01/28/08 - Hinds accepting applications for fall ACT scholarships
Fall 2008 first-time college freshmen can turn their ACT college entrance exam scores into cash for college through a scholarship at Hinds Community College.

01/25/08 - Deadline approaching for Hinds Development Foundation scholarships
Students looking for money to pay for college in fall 2008 have until April 1 to apply for a Hinds Community College Development Foundation scholarship.

01/11/08 - Hinds CC extends open registration
Because of technical difficulties with computer software used for registration, Hinds Community College is extending open registration one more day this week - through Friday, Jan. 11 - and will waive the $30 late registration fee through Jan. 18.

Joyce Adams of Jackson was recently elected vice president of the National Association of Developmental Educators (NADE).

The Rankin Campus of Hinds Community College will hold a Community Night on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in the Multi-purpose Room of the George Wynne Building.

Hinds Community College has a brand new athletics Web site that will enhance the entire sports program at the college.

12/13/07 – Hinds CC student group receives national honor
The Gamma Lambda Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, based at Hinds Community College’s Raymond Campus, received a national award from Keep America Beautiful.

12/11/07 - Hinds sets fall graduation ceremonies
Hinds Community College will graduate nearly 380 students from its six locations in three ceremonies Dec. 21 in Cain-Cochran Hall's Hogg Auditorium on the Raymond Campus.

12/09/07 -Hinds substance abuse awareness activity includes staged accident
The Rankin Campus of Hinds Community College is simulating a two-car crash scene 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, as a substance abuse awareness activity.

Hinds Community College and Pacific Crest, an educational consulting and publishing company, have teamed to present the Developmental Math Institute workshop for educators Jan. 23-25 at Eagle Ridge Conference Center.

More than 100 educators from area public and private high schools were a part of the 29th annual Counselors and Principals Workshop in the new Wellness Complex on Hinds Community College’s Raymond campus.

11/29/07 - Basic surgical techniques for RNs offered at Hinds
A continuing education course, Basic Surgical Techniques for RNs, will be offered at the Hinds Community College Jackson Campus-Nursing/Allied Health Center during the spring 2008 semester.

Nadia Williams, 25, of Jackson, center, was named Most Beautiful at Hinds Community College during the annual Eagle Beauty Revue Thursday, Nov. 15.

11/13/07 - Bassett to emcee Hinds beauty pageant
Barbie Bassett, chief meteorologist for WLBT-Channel 3, will be master of ceremonies for the Hinds Community College Eagle Beauty Revue 7 p.m. Thursday at Cain-Cochran Hall's Hogg Auditorium on the Raymond Campus.

Hinds Community College will offer GED recipients who are first-time college students a free college class beginning in January.

11/08/07 - Advance registration for spring classes to open
Current Hinds Community College students can advance register Monday-Friday, Nov. 12-16, for spring semester classes that begin on Jan. 14.

College and university students can get ahead in their higher education goals over the winter break by taking one of seven mini-term courses at Hinds Community College's Rankin Campus in December.

The Vicksburg Campus of Hinds Community College and the Work Investment Network (WIN) Job Center are hosting the "Starting Point 2007" education and career fair 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov 10, at the Pemberton Square Mall in Vicksburg.

10/23/07 - Fresenius donates training manikins to Hinds
RAYMOND, Miss. - Fresenius Medical Care in Jackson recently donated four adult manikins to the Hinds Community College American Heart Training Center housed at the Jackson Campus-Nursing/Allied Health Center.

10/23/07 - HCC's Kaleidoscope features culture of Africa
Kaleidoscope, a two-day celebration of cultural diversity, will be held on the Hinds Community College Raymond Campus Oct. 23 and 24.

A Red Ribbon activity on the Rankin Campus of Hinds Community College scheduled for Tuesday morning, Oct. 23, has been postponed because of expected thundershowers.

Raymond Campus sophomore Cornesha Cooper, 20, of Jackson was crowned 2007 homecoming queen Thursday, Oct. 18, during halftime festivities.

10/8/07 - Hinds hosting high school Technology Expo
Hinds Community College and the Rankin County Chamber of Commerce are teaming to sponsor Technology Expo 2007 8 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Oct. 25, at the George Wynne Multipurpose Room on the Rankin Campus.

10/08/07 - Hinds CC announces 2007 homecoming court
The Raymond Campus sophomore with the most votes vies with the sophomore maids from the other campuses for homecoming queen. Cooper will compete against Russell, Wiggins, Smith and Shields.

10/08/07 - Utica Jubilee Singers to entertain at Raymond Fall Pilgrimage
The Hinds Community College Utica Jubilee Singers will perform for the Raymond Fall Pilgrimage Saturday, Oct. 13, 11 a.m., in historic St. Mark's Church in Raymond.
