Hinds sets fall graduation ceremonies
Hinds Community College will graduate nearly 380 students from its six locations in three ceremonies Dec. 21 in Cain-Cochran Hall's Hogg Auditorium on the Raymond Campus. A total of 480 Hinds students have completed requirements for graduation this fall. That's an increase of more than 70 students over December 2006.

At 8:30 a.m. C. Gerald Cotton, executive vice president of Baptist Health Systems, will address graduates from the nursing and allied health programs at the Jackson Campus-Nursing/Allied Health Center, Vicksburg-Warren Campus and Rankin Campus. He has been employed with Baptist since October 1990 and assumed his present position in January 1997. He held a number of executive positions in Alabama and Mississippi medical facilities, including three years with University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Presented at this ceremony will be approximately 77 associate in applied science degree, 71 career certificates and six technical certificates.

At 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Alexander Lee, Hinds Community College Rankin Campus mathematics instructor, will address graduates from all other programs from throughout the college district. During his 14-year tenure with the college he has received academic recognitions that include his selection to represent the faculty at the February 2008 Legislative HEADWAE program recognizing excellence in higher education. Earlier this fall he was selected to attend the annual statewide Lamplighters Conference, an event also recognizing excellence in teaching.

At 11 a.m. 124 graduates with last names A-L will receive 53 associate in arts degrees, 51 associate in applied science degrees, 19 career certificates and one technical certificate. At 2 p.m. 96 graduates with last names M-Z will receive 51 associate in arts degrees, 26 associate in applied science degrees, 16 career certificates and three technical certificates.
