Jane Bird Joseph holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor of Music Education in Piano from Mississippi State University. She has been teaching piano students in Mississippi and Louisiana for over twenty-five years. She has taught at Mississippi College, Belhaven College, Millsaps College, and William Carey College; and, she was Staff Accompanist at The University of Arkansas at Monticello. Her experiences as a performer include an appearance as soloist with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, master class performances with concert artists Ruth Slenczynska and Agustin Anievas, sacred concerts, and solo recitals.
Winner of the Mississippi Music Teachers' Association Collegiate Artist Auditions and Piano Concerto Auditions, she was named one of three "Outstanding Senior Women" at Mississippi State University, listed in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, and inducted into the Mississippi State University Hall of Fame. She also was one of ten piano students in the United States to receive a National Guild of Piano Scholarship.
Mrs. Joseph teaches Piano and Music Appreciation at Hinds Community College. She serves as frequent adjudicator of piano competitions and festivals for Mississippi and Louisiana Music Teachers' Associations, National Federation of Music Clubs, and the National Guild of Piano Auditions. She received her professional certification as a teacher of piano from Music Teachers' National Association. She is a church musician - pianist and organist - and she is active as an accompanist. For the past ten years she has been a member of the music staff at Camp Crestridge for Girls in Ridgecrest, North Carolina.
She is married to Norman Joseph who is Head Football Coach at Mississippi College, and they are the parents of three daughters.
