Winds/Mallets
Scales: C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab, G, D, A, E (all in concert pitch); Chromatic Scale: full range of the instrument; Prepared Piece: solo of your choice; Sight Reading
Percussion
Rudiments: Flam, Paradiddle, Single Ratamacue, Lesson 25; Rolls: 5 stroke, 9 stroke, long, buzz; Prepared Piecel; Sight Reading
Guard
If not in our district, call (601) 857-3273 to set up an audition. Prepare a 4 minute audition including the following moves: Drop spins, Speed spins, At least one toss, Butterfly, Angles, Jazz Run
Also, be prepared to demonstrate each move individually.
Sophomore and Freshmen Drum Major
To audition for the position of Drum Major for The Hinds Eagle Band, you must meet the following criteria: Served as drum major at a high school or be a returning HCC band member, Participated in a drum major camp (exception for sophomores), Admitted to Hinds Community College

Vocal Commands (Parade rest, Attention, Horns up, Horns down, Forward march, Halt); Conducting Fundamentals/Basic Patterns (2/4 - 3/4 - 4/4 Legato and staccato); Marching Fundamentals; Conducting Routine; Mace Routine (Optional); Impromptu Conducting (music to be provided by the band staff at the audition); Interview
Judging
Those auditioning will be judged by a panel of band directors and former drum majors. Mr. Sprayberry will assemble the panel and will determine the preliminary scores as indicated below.
Scoring Sheet
Audition Score = 80% of total score
