The departments of Instructional Technology and Distance Learning have fallen under the same Dean for several years. However in the last few months, movement toward a joint effort at the state level has encouraged us to make the union official. eLearning encompasses the spirit and body of both Instructional Technology and Distance Learning allowing our faculty and staff the opportunity to utilize the resources of both departments with minimal effort. The purpose of Instructional Technology and Distance Learning is to support the instructional technology needs of faculty and students. This is accomplished by providing instructional technology resources through traditional media services and expanded computer-based instructional support. Distance learning services coordinate and administer the development and delivery of Internet based courses.

Mission
To provide support for faculty and staff through instructional technologies including distance learning.

Goals
•Faculty will have access to appropriate instructional technology including the ability to develop courseware for delivery via MSVCC.
•Students will have the ability to take coursework via the Internet.
•Faculty will have access to appropriate training in instructional technology.
•Students will be provided opportunities to take courses at a distance.
•Students will be provided learning opportunities via various learning resources.
•Production facilities will be provided for faculty and students to assist in the teaching/learning process.
•Faculty will be trained through seminars related to Media and Instructional Technology.
•Media materials will be developed to use in the instructional process.
•The Department of Instructional Technology and Distance Learning will provide a facility to be used by faculty and staff to enhance the use of instructional technology.
