Hinds Community College offers opportunities for international study during spring and summer semesters. Students enroll for 3 semester hours of credit in an interdisciplinary course (HON 1913/2923). Each course focuses upon a different topic, nation or global region. Course content includes a 10-21 day study tour, pre-tour preparation and post-tour discussion and assignments under the leadership and guidance of an HCC faculty member. Countries studied thus far include England, Russia, Japan, Germany, Belize and Costa Rica.

Cost is always a factor when developing an overseas experience for students. In two of our international programs student costs have been kept to a minimum due to a partnership agreement between Hinds Community College and Bridgwater College in England and Friendship University in Russia. These partnerships have allowed for an extended stay in the respective countries with minimal cost to our students.

Our partnership with Bridgwater College in Bridgwater, England provides HCC an opportunity to host a student group from Bridgwater College every year and Bridgwater, in turn, hosts a group from our college. The partnership with Friendship University in Sochi, Russia has created opportunities for Russian students to attend school at HCC and HCC has sent student and faculty groups to Russia. We are currently in the process of establishing a third partnership with a country in Central America. Opportunities for students to participate in these partnership programs vary from semester to semester.
