Hinds CC Creative Learning offers computer classes, special programs

 

RAYMOND – Hinds Community College offers numerous opportunities for community members to take non-credit classes or get involved in fun but enlightening programs.

Registration is now open for non-credit adult learner enrichment courses being offered by the Hinds Community College Institute for Life Long Learning, Encore Explorations program at the Raymond Campus.

Registration is now open for the following:

Creative Learning Enrichment Program short-term courses and activities held at the District Adult Ed Center, Institute for Lifelong Learning.

Silver Eagle Club: $60 annual dues, club members enjoy exclusive benefits and discounts toward program courses and activities.

Computer Courses: $50 per six-week course

Hinds Community College’s Lifelong Learning Center will offer the popular Yes You Can! computer classes for adult learners 50+ at the District Adult Education Center, located in Raymond at the corner of Hinds Boulevard and Main Street, across from Fountain Hall.
 
The course fee is $50. Call or stop by to register, and ask how you can take the course(s) for $10. Contact Melody Field.

Registration is now open for Basics of Knitting Course, to be offered through the Hinds Community College Lifelong Learning Center, Encore Explorations program for adult learners 40+.
 
The course will meet on Thursdays from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the Hinds Community College District Adult Education Center in Raymond, located across the street from Sonny Fountain Hall.  Class will meet Thursday evenings, Oct. 4-Nov. 29, (skipping Thanksgiving).
 
In this class students will learn the basics of knitting. Techniques covered in the class, include casting on, knitting, purling, increasing and decreasing stitches, binding off, and simple cable and lace. Students will make washcloths, fingerless mitts, a hat and a scarf.
 
The instructor is Donna Peyton, who is a member of the Mississippi Craftsmen’s Guild, Chimneyville Weavers and Spinners Guild and is the state representative for Stitches from the Heart, and sponsor of the Knitting Club at New Summit School.
 
Pre-registration is required by Thursday, Sept. 20. The course fee is $65.
