Veterinary Technology Building The Hinds Community College Veterinary Technology program facilities were renovated in 1994.
The facilities contain the following floor space: • Classroom - 20' x 30' - Desk, visual aid equipment, chalk board, a counter/sink and examination table for illustration purposes. • Media storage - 7' x 16' - Storage of videos, tapes, and other media equipment. • Offices - 14' x 16' and 11' x 14' - office for staff. • Radiology - 13' x 13' - Radiology room will be divided into a radiograph machine room which will house a 360 ma - 125 KV radiograph machine with table, and a film processing room. • Wet Lab - 20' x 23' - The wet lab or teaching lab houses counter space and five examination tables plus a master examination table. Each table area is equipped with a microscope, gas, sink with hot and cold water and storage space for other equipment used by students. • Kennel - 16' x 20' - The kennels are equipped with five runs and a Shoreline stainless steel cage unit with nine cages of various sizes. • Pre-Op room - 14' x 15' - The pre-op room is equipped with table, tub table, sink, counter space, and two recovery cages. • Scrub room - 8' x 20' - The scrub room includes two scrub sinks and an instrument cleaning and sterilization area. • Surgery - 20' x 24' - The surgery room contains a surgery table and anesthetic equipment.
Other Specifics • Master work area in classroom, wet lab, and pre-op has oxygen outlets. • Construction meets the USDA's Animal Welfare Act standards. • Contractors also met AAHA standards.
