Organic Division
Hinds Community College in conjunction with Mississippi State University and Alcorn State University "received a grant from Natural Resources Conservation Service aimed at assisting Limited Resource Farmers in Hinds County. Hinds will concentrate on developing, certifying and promoting Organic Vegetable Farming while also assisting those interested in learning more in the Organic Beef, Goat and Chicken area. A farmers market will be constructed on Mississippi 18, in which the county will use to sell their produce, and Hinds CC will use to assist producers with marketing their Organic produce for Wholesale only. Our plan is to host beneficial seminars engaging industry professionals to share useful information; our goal is that Hinds county farmers participate and utilize this service to increase their opportunities for economic gain.
