Bull Test Station
Hinds Community College operates a Central Bull Test Station. Purebred breeders from Mississippi and surrounding states consign bulls to the test whereby all pertinent performance information is gathered and computed by Hinds Community College. The test facility consists of 8 pens, which can accommodate approximately 100 bulls. At the completion of the test, an auction is held, which is open to the public to purchase bulls with built in performance.

Hinds Community College Farm
The Hinds Community College Farm consists of approximately 1200 acres of pasture and hay land. The cow herd is made up of 85 commercial cows that are utilized to give students hands on experience in the various management practices. Artificial insemination is used extensively in the cow herd. The top end of the steer calves are sold in the Hinds Community College Club Calf Sale which is held on the first Saturday in April each year. These steers will be used in 4-H and FFA livestock projects. The staff at Hinds Community College provides expertise and advice to these youngsters in the care and feeding of their animals.

Show Barn Facility
The show barn facility is designed to accommodate cattle, sheep and hogs. It is complete with a show ring, bleachers and a P.A. system. The cattle barn has a capacity of approximately 100 head. It has permanent mounted fans and a tube gas heating system. In addition, the wash rack has mounted chutes to facilitate washing of animals. There are 84 pens to accommodate sheep and hogs. The barn is complete with wash racks and designated areas for shearing and grooming. Concession stand and cooking facilities make it a modern, efficient and workable facility.

Sale Barn

The 33,000 square foot Sale Barn contains a 6,300 square foot temperature controlled area, which houses the sale ring, bathroom facilities and concession area. There are 53 pens and three carousels, which make it ideal for most consignment and production sales. Hinds Community College provides hay racks, feed troughs and water pails for each individual pen. The Sale Barn is connected to the Bull Test Station by an alley which further enhances its use by having access to cattle scales and a hydraulic chute.
