Writing Center
The Hinds Community College Writing Center is a free tutorial service for students enrolled at any HCC campus or branch. Working individually with students, staff members spend as much time as is necessary to diagnose and solve grammar and composition problems. Though Writing Center tutors cannot proofread or edit papers, they can offer review and practice or help with research, organization, and documentation. The ultimate goal of the Writing Center is to help students discover how to become independent, proficient writers.

Location and Hours of Operation
The Writing Center is located in 207 Moss Hall on the Raymond Campus. It is open on a regular basis on Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and on Tuesday evenings until 9 p.m. The Writing Center serves students in the order they arrive.

Staff
• Nathan Benson is the full-time Writing Center employee. He graduated with a B. A. in English from Belhaven College.
• Vicki Womack works 12 hours a week in the Writing Center in addition to teaching three classes a semester in the English Department. She graduated from Millsaps College with a B.A. in English and from Mississippi College with an M.Ed., specializing in English.

Writing Labs
Each composition I student using the lab will supply the requested paper and disk for the semester.

Each semester the Writing Center employs one student worker who shows exceptional skill in writing and who has an interest in working with other students.
