Lady Eagles soccer earns two more wins
09/10/2008

Women's soccer has picked back up at Hinds, as the Lady Eagles have won their last three games. The Lady Eagles shut out Northwest CC, 5-0, at home on Tuesday despite rainy conditions.

Deslyn Langaigne of Victoria, Grenada continued her torrid pace, leading the team with three goals.  Kendal Lee of Clinton added one goal and one assist, while Lucy Matthews of Vicksburg scored the other goal.

Courtney McCollum of Clinton added one assist and Rachel Webb of Brandon added two assists.

"I am proud of the effort that was displayed by every person on the team," said Hinds coach Kori Babb. "Our goalie, Lauren Sipes (Pearl), is suffering from a concussion that occurred during the game on Friday.  Jessie Dotson (Byram) filled the goalie spot and played really well.  Jessie got the shut out while making three amazing saves.

"I am proud of my defense for stepping up and protecting the goal the way they did," continued Babb. "Our offense came through and was able to find the back of the net, and things are starting to click the way we need them to.

Hinds was able to pick up their second win a row by defeating East Miss. CC 2-1 on Friday.

Valery Howard of Brandon and Langaigne gave the Lady Eagles all of the offensive protection they would need. McCollum and Webb dished out assists, continuing their unselfish play.

Although Hinds came through victorious, Babb was not at all pleased. "We did not play well at all," said Babb. "We underestimated our competition and did not display the effort that we needed to pull away a huge deficit."

Babb continued by saying, "We created the opportunities but were unable to capitalize on the opportunities.
