Hinds softball coach Andy Lee announced the signing of an out-of-state infielder for the 2008-2009 season.
Kelsey Brown of Crowley, La., an All-State infielder at Notre Dame High School, has inked with the Lady Eagles. Brown turned in a stellar senior campaign, hitting .513 with 42 runs batted in. She launched six homers, five doubles, three triples and had 11 stolen bases in helping lead Notre Dame to an unbeaten 8-0 league mark and an overall record of 21-9.
She finished with a .875 slugging percentage and a .537 on base percentage. Brown earned First-Team Louisiana Class 3-A All-State honors for the second consecutive season.
Brown also earned All-District and All-Acadia Parish honors three consecutive seasons, and will soon receive her second consecutive All-Parish MVP Award. The four-sport athlete also earned All-Academic honors during her time at Notre Dame.
"Kelsey will be a perfect fit for our program," said Lee. "She is a very good hitter and defender who is also very strong in the classroom."
