Men's soccer defeats Gulf Coast to help complete sweep

The Hinds men's soccer team defeated the Mississippi Gulf Coast Bulldogs, 6-1, here in Raymond on Friday night. The win helped complete the sweep of the visitors from the coast, as the Lady Eagles won in overtime prior to the men's matchup.

The matchup was a repeat of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) state championship game from a year, one in which Hinds won.

Goal scorers for the Eagles were Austin Baker of Tupelo, Michael Cooper of Vicksburg, and Tucker Hood of Brandon, Marcello Lima of Fortaleza, Brazil and Brandon Mitchell of Clinton.

Assists were provided by Quinten Neeld of Jackson, Hood, Cooper and Mitchell.

The Eagles will play their first division game of the season Friday Sept. 5 at East Miss. CC at 4 p.m.

The game scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 3 has been moved to Thursday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m.
