Hinds Community College athletics is well represented in a local magazine for the month of August. Victories in Metro Jackson, a publication that features athletes and coaches around the Metro area sharing their faith, has four different profiles of men who have or have had an affiliation with Hinds.
Victories in Metro Jackson is produced by Robert Wilson, a Hinds Community College graduate and former sports writer for The Clarion-Ledger.
The first piece profiles Chad Bradford, a former Hinds pitcher who is currently with the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball (MLB).
The second feature story is of Mark Buchanan, a shortstop formerly of Pearl who is the starting shortstop for the Hinds baseball team.
There is also a coaches corner that lists testimonies from Doug Williams, the highly-successful coach of the Hinds men's soccer team, and Sam Wright, a coach at Benton Academy who formerly coached with the Eagles.
To pick up a copy of Victories in Metro Jackson, check you area bookstores. The Hinds bookstore in Raymond currently has a limited number of copies available.
