Hinds women’s soccer signs two from Northwest Rankin

03/17/08  Hinds Community College women’s soccer coach Kori Crutchfield has announced the signing of two student-athletes from Northwest Rankin High School. Kayla Watts and Rachel Webb have both signed soccer scholarships for the 2008 school year.

Watts was a defensive standout for the Lady Cougars, and will be utilized in the Hinds defense next season. She has played for several club teams and has been a member of an Olympic Development Program Team (ODP).

“Kayla is a smart defender who can be used to attack out of the defense,” said Crutchfield. “Kayla will give our defense the depth and confidence that we need to be successful.  She has a lot to offer our program, and I am excited about coaching her next year.”

Webb was a starter for the Lady Cougars as an outside midfielder, which is where she will continue to play at the collegiate level.  Webb is a member of the Jackson Futbol Club (JFC) girls club team and, like Watts, has been a member of an Olympic Development Program Team (ODP).

“Rachel is a smart player with strong skills, an accurate leg, and has heart and desire,” said Crutchfield. “Rachel will help Hinds continue the winning tradition with her willingness to work. ”I look forward to coaching Rachel next year.”

Hinds finished 11-5-1 in 2007, winning its 10th consecutive Region XXIII championship.
