Hinds track crowns 2 national champs;
Dillon named NJCAA Coach of the Year

03/10/08  Two members of the Hinds Community College track team won individual national championships at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Indoor Championships on Saturday in Charleston, Ill. The Hinds team also finished eighth in the overall standings.

Hinds coach Reginald Dillon was named NJCAA Indoor Coach of the Year for 2008.

Jeff Henderson of Sherwood, Ark., was crowned national champion by placing first in the long jump with a length of 24 feet, 11¾ inches. The freshman also placed third in the triple jump with a total of 48 feet, 11¾ inches.

Anton Taylor of Jackson also won an individual national championship in the 60-meter dash with an amazing time of 6.77 seconds. The freshman is also a standout running back for the Eagles football team.
