Maslau, Hall win titles at state tennis tournament
04/30/08 -  The Hinds men's tennis team played in the Region 23 state and regional tournament in Hattiesburg last weekend and had a successful showing. The Eagles finished in third place as a team.

Hinds had many outstanding individual performances, as Hleb Maslau of Belarus won the state and regional titles. Maslau came into the tournament as the #1 seed and stayed that way, having yet to lose even a set this entire season.

Maslau and Allan Hall of Bahamas won the state and regional title in doubles play.

There were numerous others from Hinds who had strong showings in the tournament, including Jonathan Winningham of Mendenhall, who was the runner-up at the #3 singles spot. Cody Rood of Florence finished as a semifinalist in singles and doubles, while Hall was a runner-up also at #2 singles.

The men will move on to play in the national tournament on May 12-16 in Plano, Texas.
