Hinds tennis continues strong play

The Hinds men’s and women’s tennis teams continue to play at a high level. The Eagles and Lady Eagles played at Co-Lin Community College last week and swept the matches, with the men winning 9-0 and the women pulling out a 5-4 victory.
Hinds played Gulf Coast Community College on Thursday, which proved to be hard-fought on both sides. The Hinds men played shorthanded due to the absence of one of its top players, but still managed to avenge their only loss of the season, winning 5-4.
The Hinds women lost their matches 6-3 to a very strong women’s team from Gulf Coast.
Hleb Maslau of Belarus, Allan Hall of Bahamas and Cody Rood of Florence are all still undefeated in singles play on the men’s side. Daria Egorova of Moscow and Sherika Trader of Jackson remain undefeated in singles play on the women’s side.
Maslau and Hall, along with Egorova and Trader, remain undefeated in doubles play.
The Eagles and Lady Eagles will be off for Spring Break before returning to action on Wed. March 26. Hinds will travel to Meridian Community College for a 1 p.m. matchup on this day.
