The Hinds softball team dropped a 3-1 contest to Co-Lin Community College in the championship game of the Region 23 tournament on Sunday, therefore ending its season at 34-20 and finishing in the runner-up slot to go to the Division II World Series.
Hinds got off to a great start on Friday, beating LSU-Eunice 4-3 and beating Gulf Coast Community College 4-1, avenging a loss to the Lady Bulldogs in last week's state tournament.
Saturday was a tough day for Hinds, as they lost to Co-Lin 7-2, forcing the Lady Eagles into the loser's bracket.
Hinds needed to win three games on Sunday to become regional champions. The Lady Eagles started the day off right, beating Gulf Coast for the second time 5-4. The win forced Hinds into the championship game series.
Hinds would have to beat Co-Lin twice on Sunday to win the championship, but fell just short.
