1/24/08 Brooke Barrett, a senior at Brandon High School, has signed a softball scholarship with Hinds Community College for the 2008-2009 season. Barrett has been the Lady Bulldogs' starting catcher the past three seasons.

"Brooke has a very strong arm and is a fast base runner," said Hinds coach Andy Lee. She is a switch hitter at the plate that will provide a good stick for us and a lot of athleticism."

Barrett has spent the summers honing her game, playing on the Madison Motion, an 18 and under softball travel team.

Hinds finished second in the state last season with a 33-23 record in Lee's second season at the helm.
