Hinds golf takes fifth in East Central Invitational

3/6/08 The Hinds golf team finished in fifth place at the East Central Community College Invitational recently. The two-day event was held at the Forest Country Club in Forest.

The final score for the Eagles in the team standings was 628. The winning team in the event was Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, which finished with a total of 589. Matt Hungerman of MGCCC was the top scorer in the tournament, finishing with a two-day total of 589.

Drew Dulaney was the top scorer for Hinds, as he finished tied for sixth place overall with a two-day score of 151. Dulaney shot a three-over par 74 on day one and a six-over par 77 on the second day to lead Hinds.

The final scores for Hinds are:

Drew Dulaney: 151, tied for 6th place
Payne Dearman
: 154, tied for 20th place
Elliott Bingham
: 156, 25th place
Matthew Reeves
: 169, tied for 52nd place
Stephen Reddick
: 171, tied for 55th place

The Eagle golfers will have an extended break before they play again. The next match is scheduled for March 31 and April 1, when Hinds travels to Kirkwood Golf Club in Holly Springs for the Itawamba Community College Invitational.
