Baseball drops two to end season
05/05/08 The Hinds baseball team dropped its first two games in the 2008 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (2008) state tournament, thus ending its season.

The Eagles finished 29-20 on the year.

Hinds dropped its first game on Thursday night versus the host Itawamba Community College Indians by a count of 7-3. Mark Buchanan of Pearl led the Eagles with two hits on the evening.

The loss on Thursday forced Hinds into an elimination game with heated rival Meridian Community College. The offensive slugfest saw Hinds collect 15 hits and 10 runs, but the Eagles pitching was unable to hold down the Meridian offense, losing the game 14-10 and ending the 2008 campaign.

Meridian proved to be on top of its game, as evidenced by them winning the state tournament on Sunday.

Josh Gordon of Vicksburg led Hinds with three hits on the day, including a home run and double.
