Hinds baseball looks toward second half of division play

The Hinds baseball team is gearing up for the second go round of Central division play after finishing 4-4 the first time through.
The Eagles split doubleheaders with all four division foes, East Central Community College, Holmes Community College, East Mississippi Community College and Meridian Community College.
Hinds is currently 24-15 overall and 4-4 in Central division play. The Eagles open their second round of division play on Tuesday when East Central CC comes to Raymond.
Hinds has been led on the mound by sophomore Aryo Fleming of Baton Rouge.
The righty is 7-1 on the season with 1.56 ERA. Brandon Martin, who was terrific in his last outing against Meridian CC, has emerged behind Fleming to give the Eagles a solid one-two punch. Martin is 3-2 with an ERA under four.
Jonathon Ettinger of Vicksburg has continued to swing a hot stick. The sophomore second baseman is batting .446 on the year out of the leadoff spot. He is trailed by Eric Douglas and Josh Gordon, also Vicksburg natives, who share the team lead with five home runs and 25 RBIs apiece.
Hinds will face East Central CC on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Joe Moss Field in Raymond.
