Hinds baseball falls to Co-Lin
2/19/08 - The Hinds baseball team lost a hard-fought battle with the Co-Lin Community College Wolves on Monday, 13-9. The road loss moved the Eagles to 1-2 on the season, while Co-Lin improved to 2-1.


Hinds fell behind 5-1 early, but responded by putting seven runs on the board in the fifth inning. Co-Lin would tie the game at eight in the bottom of the fifth.

Hinds would retake the lead at 9-8 in the seventh inning when sophomore David Mooney of Jackson hit a solo homer. However, the Wolves put up three runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning to take the lead for good.

The Eagles of Hinds were led by Shane Bennett of Clinton, an infielder/pitcher. The freshman had a monster day at the plate, going four –for- four with a home run and four RBIs.

Patrick Shumaker got the win for Co-Lin, while Bennett took the loss for Hinds to move to 0-1.


Hinds will seek to rebound against Co-Lin on Wednesday, as the two teams will face off again in Raymond. First pitch is at 2 p.m.
